According to our sources at “Chorrord Ishkhanutyun”, Sargsyan was in the Minister’s office for some hours yesterday, following which the decision on his dismissal was made. But press secretary of Defense Minister Seyran Shahsuvaryan informed us yesterday: “There is no such a thing. Your sources are useless.” On the other hand, our sources reassure us that an investigation has been launched on Sargsyan, and Sargsyan has resigned so as not to disrupt the investigation. Let us note that the latter had phoned “Chorrord Ishkhanutyun” and threatened to shoot ChI reporter Taguhi Tovmasyan and photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan in the head, and to “blast” the editorial office. Sargsyan had been enraged by one of the articles of T. Tovmasyan.

These will be the first exercises of such duration with participation of the reservists since the Karabakh war. According to experts, the possibility that such exercises are being held to further intensify the news about a possible war is not to be excluded. In the end, when the Armenian authorities attempt to return the liberated territories that constitute a buffer zone around Karabakh, they will present it as an inevitable step to avoid a war, and deter an uprising among citizens.
